Significant damage occurred north of the Kansas City metro area later Monday evening near Trimble, Plattsburg and Lathrop in Missouri from an EF 2 tornado with estimated winds around 132 mph. Two Tornadoes Report In Kc Area

Additional damage was reported in the Diamond Crest and Harbor Lakes subdivisions north of Smithville. Heavy damage was also reported at the Johnson County Executive Airport in Olathe.   Extensive damage was done to hangars, vehicles, and other structures in the area. Power lines were also down at the airport.  No injuries were reported there. And damage in Wentzville, Missouri about 45 minutes north west of St. Louis.  Several businesses damaged, as well as a mobile home park that has been destroyed. Missouri Storms Damage Nearly 500 Homes, Businesses

In Oak Grove, Missouri, 483 homes sustained some type of damage, along with 10 to 12 commercial buildings, said Sni Valley Fire Protection District Chief Carl Scarborough. Twelve people were treated for injuries by emergency responders on Monday, and three were taken to hospitals with injuries that weren’t life-threatening, he said. Oak Grove Mayor Jeremy Martin praised the work of emergency crews and said it was remarkable there were no deaths. “It looks like the injuries are minimal so, based on some of the damage I’ve seen, it’s rather amazing,” Martin said in a Tuesday morning press conference. The Kansas City area sustained widespread damage, and crews planned to survey and assess the damage early Tuesday.
