Sensory Bonanza? Uk Crammed Many Memories Into 2016-17
... said. Individual inconsistency. A freshman-dependent rotation figured into the inconsistency. Monk blazed across the sky for much of presumably his one season for Kentucky. His 47 points against North Carolina in Las Vegas set a single-game record for a UK freshman. His 34 points at Ole Miss set a program record for a freshman in a road game. His 30 points in the second half in Rupp Arena against Florida were the most by any Wildcat in a half in Calipari’s time here. “His light is a little greener than other guys on this team,” assistant coach Tony Barbee said of Monk. But Monk acknowledged having to learn when to fire away and when to ponder time-and-score considerations. As associate coach Kenny Payne pointed out in Memphis late Friday night, the hesitation allowed defenses to marshal even more attention on Monk. Perhaps that was one reason Monk averaged only — by his standards — 13 points in UK’s final eight games. Ankle and knee injuries interrupted point guard De’Aaron Fox’s star turn. ...
Kentucky Fans Offer Insight For Mu Into Potential One-and-done Players Like Porter
... there.”. With the hiring of Michael Porter Sr. as an assistant, as well as the fact the Porter family is from Columbia, competing for Porter Jr. was unique for Missouri coach Cuonzo Martin. Blanton’s question remains whether or not the Tigers will succeed like Kentucky has or struggle like others — notably LSU and Ben Simmons, who did not make the NCAA Tournament. Michele Edds, 58, knows Kentucky’s situation is much different than that of Missouri’s, especially with the fact the Tigers have not made the tournament in four years, much less won a road game in three years. Still, a Louisville native and lifelong Wildcats fan, Edds said one-and-dones can be “hard (to handle).”. Unlike Blanton, who said he feels like he knows Calipari’s teams better than Kentucky teams in years past due to the players’ success in the NBA, Edds wishes the players would stay longer for familiarity purposes. She’s not alone. Perched on a stone just outside of Silky O’Sullivan’s on Beale Street, beneath a black top hat and a ...
This Was A Team To Be Proud Of
... familiar with, where we will have to learn a whole new group of names and faces. Adebayo, Monk, and Fox will undoubtedly enter the draft, and all three are likely to be taken in the first round. Willis, Hawkins, and fellow senior Mychal Mulder will finish out the semester and move on with their lives, with Hawkins and Willis likely getting a spot in the D-League or playing overseas. Briscoe’s status remains to be seen; while it would be prudent for him to return for his junior season, his heart could be set on the NBA no matter what. Then there is Isaac Humphries ; many thought he would either transfer or possibly return home to Australia and pursue a professional career. After his career-high twelve points on Sunday, many will hope he returns next season to become a key bench player and bring some stability to the squad. No matter what happens, these young men will always be Wildcats, and we will remember them fondly for the hard work they put in this season. As we now begin ...

White Privilege And Kentucky Basketball Are Synonymous
... that rioters and protesters who are fighting for the rights of oppressed and disfranchised are immediately bombarded with negative shots across the bow; "thugs", "savages" and "animals" are but a few. Unlike members of numeric minorities living within a democracy, Wildcats basketball fans are the very epitome of entitlement and really always have been. Back in the '50 s, their lionized legend Adolph Rupp was an admitted racist. Now the program has a lock on the majority of the very best high school basketball players in the nation, most of them Black. In 2007, the University of Kentucky practically forced then head coach Tubby Smith out. What did he do wrong. Well, after leading the Wildcats to an NCAA Championship in 1998, Smith "only" managed three Elite Eights, two Sweet Sixteen appearances, five SEC regular season titles, five SEC tournament championships and avoided getting bounced in the first round of the Big Dance during his entire time there. That's all. Yet, he was criticized for everything from his slow-down style of ...
Evan Daniels Like Uk For Mohamed Bamba, Not So Much Kevin Knox
... a guess at where I thought he was going to go, I’d say Kentucky.”. Knox plans to announce his decision a few days after the Jordan Brand Classic on April 14. “I like Carolina and Duke in that one,” Daniels said. “If I was going to take a pick, I would go with one of those two.”. In a separate interview with Fletcher Page of the Courier-Journal , Daniels made it clear he doesn’t think Bamba has made his decision, but is willing to call Kentucky the pick. "I need to preface this by saying, I don't think Mohamed Bamba has made his college choice, but my vibe in the recruitment is that it's trending towards Kentucky," he said. "So if I was going to make a prediction right now, and I usually don't do that this far out, I would say Kentucky.". This is looking more and more like the likeliest outcome for Kentucky is ...
Kentucky Basketball Postseason Musings
... there is when it comes to March. He's been to at least an Elite Eight every season but two since he has been at UK and there isn't another coach in America that come close to what he does. Who Stays and Who Goes. It's pretty much a given that Fox, Monk, Bam, and Briscoe will all be headed towards pro careers of one form or another in the coming weeks. Monk and Fox are looking at lottery picks while Bam must certainly be in the first round of the draft. There have been some rumblings of his return to UK (fingers crossed) but I think there's an 85% chance he is gone. Kentucky is also losing three seniors in Hawkins , Willis , and Mychal Mulder. And then there is the case of Isaac Humphries who left the door open. Here is what I'm thinking. Fox- 100% gone. Bam- 85% gone. Humphries - 60% he returns. The front court will be loaded with some elite guys next season and Hump may have been a little worried about that. But with the way ...
