Lavar Ball Now Has Markelle Fultz In His Sights
... Andrew Jones will declare for the draft, but will not hire an agent, according to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman. Texas freshman Andrew Jones will test the NBA Waters and declare, but won't sign with an agent, source told ESPN. — Jeff Goodman (@Goodman ESPN) March 30, 2017. The 6-foot-4 guard joins Jarrett Allen, the Longhorns’ star center, in utilizing the rule change that became available to players last year in which they can declare, workout for teams, attend the NBA combine and still return to school. Jones averaged 11.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game as a freshman. He shot 42.5 percent from the field overall and 32.8 percent from 3-point range. Allen seems the likelier candidate to remain in the draft as a potential lottery pick, but Jones came to Austin with similar one-and-done possibilities given his status as one of the class’ top recruits. Texas, of course, is hoping both return, not just because they’re both big talents, but because incoming and ...
Will Knicks Get Shot At Markelle Fultz, Josh Jackson
... ended all dim hopes of a trip to the postseason. While it might be difficult to for some to fathom, that difficult stretch might have done wonders for the organization and saved years of rebuilding. After a March 1, win against the Orlando Magic, the Knicks improved to 25-36 and moved to within four games of the Detroit Pistons for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot. Given the weak standing of the East, it didn’t reflect much on the team’s actual success on floor. To put things lightly, things have been dysfunctional given Carmelo Anthony’s deteriorating relationship with Phil Jackson, trade rumors, Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah’s off-court shenanigans and the dreaded return of the triangle offense. With some of the only redeemable assets coming in the form of younger talent like Kristaps Porzingis and Willy Hernangomez, it is likely that this team will not stay ...
Markelle Fultz Is The Big Man On Campus 2.0
... Up, Tom Brady Escapes from Goodell’s Dog House. There he goes, quietly snaking through the student center, i Phone in hand, unnoticed until classmates spot the cameras trailing 10 feet behind. As the point guard waits in line at the food court for a cookies-and-cream milkshake, senior Johnathan Mensonides snaps a photo. ( Click here to subscribe free to B/R Mag in the B/R app for exclusive video of the likely No. 1 NBA draft pick). "Excuse me," the student implores the assembled entourage. "Can you tell me who that is?". Hold up: Here is Markelle Fultz, whom NBA scouts refer to as "the next James Harden," inside the U-Dub spirit shop, and the manager who sells Huskies basketball gear doesn't even recognize him. You've got to see this to believe it. Outside the student center, Fultz attempts to introduce himself to a student sitting on a park bench. ...
Still No Markelle Fultz As Huskies Begin Pac-12 Tournament In Las Vegas
... Washington, though, cannot afford such lofty aspirations. For the Huskies, the tournament simply offers one, final chance to win a game, something they haven’t done since Jan. 18, 12 consecutive losses now in their wake. Their last opportunity to end the streak comes at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, when they will face the No. 6-seed USC Trojans – a team that has already defeated UW twice, including Saturday’s regular-season finale in Los Angeles – in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament at the new T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas strip. And they will do so without their best player, freshman guard Markelle Fultz, who will again watch from the bench due to a knee injury. At 9-21 overall and 2-16 in Pac-12 play, the Huskies recently completed the worst conference season in their history, and enter this week’s tournament as the No. 11 seed, ahead of only 12 th-seeded Oregon State. UW’s current 12-game losing streak is the longest in school history by three games, and the Huskies are trying to avoid their first single-digit overall victory total since the 1993-94 season, when they finished 5-22 (but still won three ...
Huge Mistake!!’ Huskies Community Reacts To Lorenzo Romar’s Firing
... Jr.’s godfather, Romar, and their father, an assistant coach for the team. The brothers, winners of the 3 A state boys basketball title at the Tacoma Dome two weeks ago, were both wistful in their remarks on Twitter. Loved this coaching staff and couldn't wait to start something special next year.this hurts. — Andrew Andrews (@Drew_squared) March 15, 2017. Even Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse had great things to say about Romar. Romar was more than a basketball coach, he was a life coach and he wasn't even my coach. Loved everything about him. — Jermaine Kearse (@JKearse_15) March 15, 2017. Former Huskies assistant T. J. Otzelberger, now the head coach at South Dakota State, told The Spokesman-Review that if his son got the chance to play college basketball, he’d want his son to play for Romar. “He’s been an unbelievable mentor to me, leader, graduation ...
Markelle Fultz Of Washington
... do you think has a higher chance of translating into difference-making greatness at the next level: someone who is good-to-very good at most things or someone who is historic at one thing. iv. Despite his individual statistical greatness, Fultz was unable to carry Washington into even mediocrity. When draft discussion becomes more prominent in more popular vehicles, he is probably going to get some crap for it. Discussions will be had about whether Fultz (who appears to have more of a laid-back nature and plays gracefully at his own pace [3] ) has enough of a killer instinct to carry a team on his back. But I tend to think that things are simpler: the team around him was poorly assembled and poorly coached, at least to compete in what was probably the best conference this season. It could be argued that once it became clear Washington’s season was going poorly, Fultz had a responsibility to try forcing the issue some more. Since he can do more, more was expected of him. But then part of what makes him so appealing, the efficiency and ...

Despite Rough Season In Washington, Markelle Fultz Still Stands As The Best Draft Prospect
... season with the Washington Huskies, Fultz will be spending the next three months trying to prove why he deserves to be the number one pick in this year’s NBA Draft. While he put up fantastic numbers and showcased a well-rounded game, NBA scouts might be weary to draft a player that spent his lone college season playing for a squad that had a 9-22 record. Despite the clear concerns that NBA teams would have with a player that spent his time with a below-average squad, Fultz should still stand as the top prospect in this year’s draft. As we’ve mentioned throughout this piece, Fultz is a phenomenal guard that can lead a team through his facilitating, on-ball cuts or perimeter shooting. hat ability to lead a team in a variety of ways is unique to see in an NBA All-Star, let alone a player that won’t turn 19 until late May. While Fultz has gone through some struggles over the last few months, there’s absolutely no doubt that basketball fans are about to spend the next ...
For Likely No. 1 Pick Markelle Fultz, Will Missing Ncaa Tourney Affect Career
... still favor the Washington guard as well. "I think both are going to be very good NBA point guards, make All-Star teams and be part of winning teams," a Western Conference scout told Bleacher Report. "Fultz has a better chance to be MVP out of the two, and if our team ends up in a situation where we get the No. 1 pick, I want us to draft a guy who has a chance to be the MVP in the league. Because that's really what gives you a chance to win the championship, when you have an MVP-caliber player.". Elaine Thompson/Associated Press. This is the line of thinking that drives NBA decision-makers when it comes to the No. 1 overall pick, but one important word there should stick out when evaluating a guy who just won nine games in a season: "championship.". If Fultz is truly a player who can drive a franchise to the NBA Finals, then why couldn't his college team win more than two games in the Pac-12. Without context, it's a valid concern. But there is some context to consider. Andy Lyons/Getty Images. If this sounds familiar, it should. We went through it a season ago with Ben Simmons. Simmons went to LSU and put up ...
Markelle Fultz And Dennis Smith Jr
... Year in the college game, and a #1 overall pick in the draft. I just don’t see Smith Jr. getting that kind of notice/recognition even though he was individually comparable (statistically) in just one season to Williams (who played three years in college), nor should he be (because basketball is obviously a team sport, recognition often goes to players on successful teams). I can’t help but think of former Magic guard Steve Francis (6-foot-3, 195 lbs.) has an example of what kind of player I think Smith Jr. will become in the NBA. Francis, like Smith Jr., was a strong lead-guard who had some serious bounce in transition (who doesn’t miss Francis on the break alley-ooping passes to himself? Just me?). Francis could distribute and produce points in a hurry, but was prone to turnovers. He was a streaky scorer who peaked and valleyed routinely. Pretty much everything I’ve seen from Smith Jr. this season at N. C. St. as well. Per/40 Stats (courtesy of Sports Reference). If Orlando ends up picking somewhere in the 3-6 range in this ...
Is Lonzo Ball The No. 1 Pick
... SF, North Carolina. Do you really think Michael Jordan will pass on one of the most accomplished Tar Heels of the last decade? Jackson has taken a big step up in his junior season for one main reason: he’s finally grown into a confident and capable three-point shooter. As long as that deep ball is no aberration, Jackson should be a dependable scorer on the wing. 11) Dallas Mavericks - Frank Ntilikina, PG, France. The French point guard projects as an excellent defender and plus shooter. Even amid Yogi Ferrell mania, the Mavs would love to add a young player with that skill set at point guard. 12) Portland Trail Blazers - Miles Bridges, SF, Michigan State. Bridges has the most athletic power of any player in this draft. His three ball (39 percent on five attempts per game) was better than expected in his freshman season, too. He’s not exactly a 3-and-D guy and he’s a little short to be a small-ball power forward (6’6), but a smart coach can put his tools to good use. 13) Chicago Bulls - Robert Williams , PF, Texas A&M. The Bulls talked all summer about getting younger and more athletic, yet somehow only got older and slower. Assuming the front ...
