Now that Mike Glennon has officially signed with the Chicago Bears, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have to look for another quarterback to back up Jameis Winston. Well, the search didn't take long and the team may have already found the man for the job. (Photo: Wikimedia Commons/Keith Allison)Nick Foles with the Los Angeles Rams in 2015. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, there is mutual interest between free agent quarterback Nick Foles and the Buccaneers. That's an interesting option. Foles happens to be a former teammate of newly signed receiver De Sean Jackson. The two were teammates in Philadelphia for two seasons (2012 and 2013). In fact, Jackson's had his best season as pro in 2013 when he was Foles' top target. Foles also had the best season of his career in 2013 and he was selected to the Pro Bowl that season. His record as a starter isn't that great (20–16), ...
Matt Kalil, Nick Foles, & Domata Peko
... is likely that the Vikings see him as a candidate to be Sam Bradford’s primary backup in 2017, in which Bridgewater is not currently expected to play, and should be considered at least a marginal upgrade to Shaun Hill. The hottest rumors right now still revolve around left tackle (and pizza expert) Matt Kalil. Our rumor-mongering friend Ryan Boser is at it again late into Wednesday evening, leading all of us to believe that the Vikings are currently engaged in a bidding war for Kalil’s services (the football services, not the pizza services… we think). The contract value has increased substantially today. Don’t shoot the messenger. __link__/s Wc MBQqx Kn. — Ryan Boser (@Ryan_Boser) March 9, 2017. As explained the other day , Boser infamously swung and missed big with a Michael Vick rumor before the Bradford trade, but he has accurately scooped some items since then, as well. Digest the rumors however you see fit between now and an official report (and, as Ryan states, please don’t shoot the messenger – I have a really low pain tolerance). ... football career.". The Chiefs declined Foles' option last Thursday, making him a free agent. Foles, who turned 28 in January, joined the Chiefs last season as a free agent after being released by the Rams. He played in three games for Kansas City, starting one. He threw for 410 yards and three touchdowns in those three games. Foles played three seasons for the Eagles and one for the Rams before joining the Chiefs. The Eagles' third-round pick in 2012, Foles started five games that season; in 2013, he had one of the more remarkable quarterback seasons in NFL history. Foles threw 27 touchdown passes with just two interceptions in leading the Eagles to the playoffs. He was selected for his only Pro Bowl that season. Foles' play declined drastically in 2014, when he threw for just 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He was traded ...
Nick Foles Could Return To The Eagles In 2017
... how Doug Pederson is a big Foles fan. Pederson was the Eagles’ quarterbacks coach when Philadelphia drafted Foles in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Honestly, I don’t hate the idea of Foles as a backup in theory. He’s a fine backup quality player and he has some level of familiarity with the Eagles’ offense. But I really do hate the idea of him being viewed as anything more than that. The Eagles wouldn’t be signing him to challenge Wentz, of course, but I fear the day if/when Wentz struggles and some of Foles’ fan boys call for him to be the starter. It’s painfully obvious by now Foles just isn’t a good long-term starting option in this league. 2013 was a fun season but 27-2 was a fluke. After looking at this year’s barren free agent quarterback market, Foles looks like the Eagles’ best backup option if the team needs to replace Daniel. The Eagles could also draft a quarterback but they’ll likely want a veteran behind the 24-year-old Wentz. A rookie wouldn’t be anything more than a third-string developmental passer. So. who’s fired up for the potential return of the 2014 Pro Bowl MVP. A post shared by BLG (@brandongowton) ...

... pay cut” to make that happen. Both teams have uncertainty in their backfields, with Oakland’s Latavius Murray hitting free agency, while in Thomas Rawls and C. J. Prosise, Seattle has talented backs who both are relatively unproven and have struggled to stay healthy. Chiefs will not pursue Tony Romo. A source tells Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio that Dallas may throw its hat into the ring for Britt, who was more or less the only bright spot on the Rams’ offense last year. Chiefs Likely To Move On Without Nick Foles
... fort guy or maybe a starter…. onlinetoughguy says. Feb 15, 2017 12:05 PM. That Foles for Bradford trade actually looks pretty good for Philly now. The Eagles ended up giving away Foles and 2 nd and 4 th round picks, and received a 1 st and 5 th round pick in return when you factor in the Bradford trade to Minnesota. Kapodaco says. Feb 15, 2017 12:16 PM. Foles did well when replacing Smith last year, so this move is a little surprising… until you see the price tag. Perhaps they could get him back with a much reduced price, but I’m sure Foles will want to make as much as possible. Maybe he’s hoping one team will give him a Chase Daniel-type deal. mmack 66 says. Nick Foles Returning To Eagles But In Much Different Role; Dt Bennie Logan To Chiefs
... as the backup. Daniel is believed to have offset language in his contract that would take the Eagles off the hook and give them salary-cap relief for whatever he would make next season with his new team. However, they will only realize minimal savings of $1 million this season if they release him. Because that wouldn't be enough to get them under the cap this year with all the other moves they made recently to re-sign offensive lineman Stefen Wisniewski and add wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith in free agency, they also adjusted the contract of tight end Zach Ertz to clear up some space this year, moving a sizable chunk of his guaranteed money to next season. Wentz began the season with incredible success, leading the Eagles to three straight wins. But after right tackle Lane Johnson was forced to leave the team for a 10-game suspension, other ...
Eagles Cap Space After Restructuring Zach Ertz's Deal, Signing Nick Foles
... season into a roster bonus. The move saves $2.58 million in much-needed cap space. Here is an updated look at the Eagles' salary cap situation. Roll Over: According to the NFLPA, the Eagles are set to roll over $7.9 million in cap space from the 2016 season to the 2017 offseason. With the rollover, the Eagles cap is set at $179.5 million. Dead Money: The Eagles have $7.6 million in dead money on their books - $5.5 million from Sam Bradford, $904,000 from Eric Rowe , $250,000 from Leodis Mc Kelvin, and $600,000 among other players. Eagles 7-Round Mock Draft. Contracts: The Eagles had $176.4 million in committed contracts for the 2017 season, once Alshon Jeffery ($9.5 million), wide receiver Torrey Smith ($4.5 million) and offensive guard Chance Warmack ($1.29 million) were signed. They can still release players to lower that number. With Ertz re-doing his deal, the Eagles now have around $174 million in committed contracts. That does not include Foles' cap hit. __link__ is reporting he signed a two-year, $11 million deal, but it is unclear what the cap hit for 2017 will be. Cap Space: Using $179.5 ...
