Power Rangers’, ‘chips’ & A Deep-space Alien Won’t Take This ‘beauty And The Beast’ Down
... Rangers , it’s the latter that is forecasted to place second with an opening between $30 M-$40 M on 3,693 screens. Lionsgate’s m.o. was to give this 25-year old beloved franchise of martial-art fighting helmet headed superheros a dusting off, providing a grounded Hunger Games-like vibe with a Transformers-like touch that grown-up fans would savor. The brand itself, created by Haim Saban and Toei Company Ltd., has logged some 831 episodes on TV to date, with toy sales far and above $6 billion (and that figure was from 16 years ago!). At the height of the Power Rangers-mania in the mid-90 s when it was on Fox TV, there was actually a Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers feature film. But the movie was made with the same production quality as its TV counterpart off an estimated $15 M budget and in the end didn’t resonate with the masses or the fans because it didn’t offer anything beyond what they could see at home. Domestic final: a measly $38.1 M stateside. This Power Rangers is scripted by Flight Oscar ...
Obnoxious Officers In 'chips
... specially Eric Estrada (as Officer Frank Poncherello). As with other buddy cop TV series that became films like "Starsky and Hutch" (2004) and "21 Jump Street" (2012), this new film incarnation of "CHIPS" is considerably edgier and raunchier than its venerable, vanilla-flavored predecessor. Jon Baker is an injury-laden ex-motorcycle riding champ who wants to save his sinking marriage by becoming a policeman, barely making it under probation as the oldest rookie on the force. His partner goes by the name of Frank Poncherello, an undercover agent sent to investigate a violent big-time heist suspected to have been perpetrated by a gang of policemen. Both of them have their own hangups and eccentricities which put them at odds with each other at first. Later though, they end up saving each other's lives and eventually forge an strong yet unconventional partnership between them. The action in this film is violent and graphic (decapitation alert!). The adrenaline mainly comes from all the breathtaking motorcycle riding stunts weaving in and out of traffic, which I hope will not encourage the already unruly ...

... company announced. It used its 14 Low-Power Plus process and know-how from network applications together with e Silicon's ASIC and 2.5 D design capability and Rambus' 28 G Ser Des solution for the design pattern. Samsung also named its newly-developed 2.5 dimension turnkey solution I-Cube (Interposer-Cube), that connects a logic chip, or processor, with a HBM 2 memory. Read More. The commercial-ready 14-nanometer network process chip is the first to have applied the I-Cube solution, the company said. Luc Seraphin, senior vice president and general manager of Rambus Memory and Interfaces Division, said in a statement, "This is the first of several other offerings we plan to bring to networking and enterprise ASIC markets around the globe.". The South Korean chip giant said I-Cube solution will be essential to network applications for high-speed signaling in networks, and will ...
For Dax Shepard's Merrily Idiotic 'chips,' It's The Low Way Or The Highway
... Patrol to impress and win back his ex-wife ( Kristen Bell , Shepard’s real-life spouse). His partner (Peña) goes by the alias of Francis Llewellyn “Ponch” Poncherello, which really was the name of Erik Estrada’s character on the show; here, it’s practically a dead giveaway that he’s really an undercover FBI agent trying to find out which crooked CHP officers are behind a series of armored-truck heists. The dynamic between these two khaki-uniformed dudes is of the familiar oil-and-water variety. Ponch is an insatiable sex fiend, Baker an obsessive monogamist. Ponch wants to keep his head down so he can get on with his investigation; Baker insists on earning his CHP stripes and doing everything by the book. Intel Merges Its Ai Operations Into A New Unit, Focusing On New Chips And Software
... learning. Additionally, it is applying its wide portfolio of FPGAs (field programmable gate arrays) to artificial intelligence. Intel also offers many software tools for deep learning, like its Deep Learning SDK. Also part of the group will be chips from Movidius and Nervana Systems, companies that Intel acquired last year. Movidius chips are used in mobile devices, drones, and robots, was well as for computer vision. Intel plans to show a high-performance machine learning ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) called Lake Crest with technology from Nervana this year. Intel will create an AI research lab dedicated to exploring "novel architectural and algorithmic approaches" that could be applied to data center technologies and Io T devices. Machine learning today is mostly driven by GPUs, which Intel doesn't make. But between its CPUs, ASICs, and FPGAs, Intel believes it can offer a wide range of chips to meet all machine-learning needs. The ...
Guess What? Dax Shepard's 'chips' Is Better Than It Looks
... tries to be an “action-comedy”? It would be easy to write off “CHi Ps,” a dirty, gross-out, thoroughly unnecessary reboot of a once-iconic ’70 s cop show no millennial knows ever existed. All you have to do is point to any number of failed gags and set pieces, first and foremost a dire bit involving Michael Pena trying to tend to a naked Dax Shepard and accidentally smashing his face into his crotch. But the majority of “CHi Ps” isn’t like that. It’s not a programmatic studio comedy, giving us what it thinks audiences want. It gives us what its maker and co-star, Dax Shepard, wants to give us. It has almost nothing to do with the original program, beyond two strapping California Highway Patrolmen, suave Ponch (Michael Pena) and fearless/kinda dumb Jon Baker (Shepard), steering around on police cruisers. Still, you get the sense that Shepard — unlike the makers of the new “Power Rangers” movie — genuinely likes the show he’s adapting. That doesn’t sound like high praise, but it makes a difference. RELATED: Interview: Kristen Bell's "boob job" in "CHi Ps" revealed — "use 'em while you got 'em". The plot is dumb — so dumb it could have ...
With ‘chips,’ Hollywood Again Goes From Small Screen To Big. Does It Ever Work
... and directing. It’s that it was so good, so long after the original television series. Which could also be said for “The Fugitive” a few years later. Both took solid material and made movies much better than the original shows. “Police Squad”/”The Naked Gun:” Another case of a show cancelled too soon. From the comedic geniuses that brought us “Airplane” (David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker) the show only lasted six episodes in 1982. Then they got half as many movies out of the concept, which reinvented Leslie Nielson’s career as the bumbling Frank Drebin in the greatest police spoof of all-time. “The Muppet Movie”: I remember being on the cusp of my teenage years and scoffing at the idea of making a movie out of what I thought would be leftover “Sesame Street” puppets. And I probably rode my bike to see it three times. It’s still a wonderful movie, and I dare you to watch the opening scene with Kermit and if you’re not ...

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hardcore "CHi Ps" fans hate it and the real California Highway Patrol seems not quite sure what to make of it. But Larry Wilcox, who rode his motorcycle to everlasting fame in the old "CHi Ps" TV series, says that for now, he'll give the benefit of the doubt to "CHIPS," the forthcoming film based loosely — very loosely — on the show that made him and Erik Estrada two of the biggest ...
