The Shockers, surprisingly were handed a 10 seed by the committee despite a 30-4 record with a Missouri Valley Conference regular season and tournament title on their resume. They are Ken Pomeroy’s eighth best team in the country with Top 20 ratings in both offensive and defensive efficiency. Yet, the Shockers find themselves on the 10-line. On Thursday, the details of an affidavit were released concerning an incident involving KU star freshman Josh Jackson. In mid-December,  Jackson allegedly threaten to “beat” the ex-girlfriend of teammate Lagerald Vick. The Jayhawks’ season has been successful on the court and a mess off it. 6. Top-seed scares: Gonzaga started slow, then pulled away. Villanova did the same. Will we get any threats on Kansas, UNC, Kentucky or Louisville. 7. Duke watch: No team is as interesting as Duke. The Blue Devils are coming off four wins in four days, which had never been done in the ACC tournament. Expectations are for the Blue Devils to beat Troy by north of 20 points. At least mine are. ... as the upsets to pick, and sure, you can at least pick one. But since 2007, No. 6 seeds are 20-20 against 11 seeds. So, you can comfortably pick two No.11 seeds. Another rule: You should make one of these a team that wins in the “First Four.” Since the group of games was added in 2011, one team in the play in games advanced to the Round of 32. My picks: Either No. 11 Wake Forest or No. 11 Kansas State over Cincinnati. No. 11 Xavier over No. 6 Maryland. Pick three of the eight 10 or 12 seeds. As for the aforementioned No. 12 seeds. They’re 16-24 in the round of 12 in the last 10 years. I’d combine it with another stat. The 10 seeds are 15-25 in that same time period. So I’d take three out of the eight 10 or 12 seeds to advance. A good way to pick which teams is based on their offensive success. Can the team get hot for a game to pull off an upset? This points to No. 10 Oklahoma State. However, there were a lot of road bumps along the way. Injuries to nearly every key player at one time or another - and even an injury to coach Mike Krzyzewski - stunted the development of this team. I always thought if they could come around and start playing as we were expecting, the Blue Devils could still win the national championship. What we have seen in March is that they have indeed come around. Duke looks like the team we expected to see way back in November. Better late than never. Howard Megdal. 2017 March Madness Bracket Predictions

... the Big 12 tournament leaves even more time for this group, currently in the middle of concerning investigations from a few off-court incidents, to get its business in order before the time and stress demands of the NCAA Tournament. If Josh Jackson’s suspension continues, they’ll be a Final Four team. If he’s on the court, they’re winning the whole dang thing. Frank Mason III can carry this team to the edge of greatness but its the overwhelming impact of Jackson’s athleticism and versatility that can get them past a Louisville Cardinals , UNC, Kentucky Wildcats , UCLA Bruins or Duke. Elsewhere in the bracket, I’m all in for Arizona Wildcats getting to the Final Four for the first time since 2001 and first time with Sean Miller and think Villanova Wildcats won’t get a shot at becoming the first team since 2007 Florida Gators to repeat as champion.
