... shares last closed. Additionally, considering Apple is back on the revenue growth train as of the first fiscal quarter of this year, momentum seems to be rolling on the giant’s side. White opines, “Given a healthy uptake with the i Phone 7/7 Plus at Apple and the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco at Samsung, Apple made claim to the #1 position (i.e., unit market share from IDC) in the smartphone market during 4 Q:16 for the first time since 4 Q:11. Moreover, the arrest of Samsung’s heir apparent/de facto leader (Lee Jae-yong; Vice Chairman) for bribery charges and the pre-trial hearing has provided further distractions at the company.” Should Samsung trip once more, its competitive edge in the smartphone market might irrevocably be dented, which would further propel Apple’s standing in the tech stratosphere. “Given the reported cases of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 catching fire and exploding, we believe consumers will be more apprehensive about buying a new Samsung device this time around. Moreover, this year is the tenth anniversary for the i Phone and the excitement around the upcoming i ...

Warren Buffett Offers Clear Thinking About Tesla's Challenges
... invention gave birth to some 2,000 different auto manufacturing companies. As an aside, Buffett says that he sometimes carries with him, as a signal lesson on the difficulty of investing at the vanguard of significant economic trends, a list of those 2,000 firms. And yet, for all the transformative effects that the automobile and the automotive industry have had on American life, only three of those companies survived (Buffett doesn't say which three but presumably they are Ford (NYSE: F ), General Motors (NYSE: GM ) and Chrysler (NYSE: FCAU ) and even they have not done particularly well over that time. The lesson? An investor at the dawn of the auto industry could have been "dead right," in Buffett's words, about the impact that the auto industry would have on American life and yet that same investor had only a miniscule chance of making money on most of those 2,000 ...
Vp Of Autopilot David Nister Departs
... 08:33 am David Nister has now moved on to Nvidia, to develop maps which are a core part of self-driving system. Tesla Inc. has been speeding up its efforts in order to achieve self-driving capability by this year when it starts deliveries of its upcoming Model 3. And that is the prime reason why the updates to the second generation of hardware are being made by the company in order to make it at par with the first one. But despite all these efforts, Tesla’s Vice President of Autopilot David Nister has decided to leave the company. According to a report by Electrek, the decision from David Nister to quit the company was made after the arrival of Chris Lattner from Swift earlier this year. Nister had been part of Tesla’s autopilot team since April 2015 and was in charge of the Autopilot 2.0 that was recently rolled out by the automaker with continuous updates in the process. The Information, who first report the news of the departure of Nister said , “At Nvidia, Mr. Nistér will be working on developing ...
A Preview Of Tesla's Q1 Deliveries
... and Cover Drive, have been studying the data and have been kind enough to share what they see. Bonaire, the bolder of the two, anticipates something close to 21,200 deliveries. Cover Drive more modestly offers this. For this quarter, I'm using the "VIN Delivery Waterline" as my metric. It looks to me like the waterlines moved 12,500 Model S and 10,100 Model X in Q 1, so I'll go with that for production numbers. The Model S number may be overestimated due to the introduction of the 100 D which likely created VIN gaps. I don't have any idea about the net change to inventory, so I'll submit the same numbers for my delivery guess. Thoughts on Europe: Norwegian sales have been strong (particularly Model X), falling in line with the last two quarters. I think there's been a good response to inventory sales. There are a lot of sequential VIN numbers being registered. United Kingdom numbers may be even better than Norway as the majority of Model X's should be delivered and tax ...

... but instead of 'shares' investors are actually buying and selling 'units'. These 'units' can be traded back and forth just like stocks, but can also be created or destroyed to accommodate investor demand. Each week we monitor the week-over-week change in shares outstanding data, to keep a lookout for those ETFs experiencing notable inflows (many new units created) or outflows (many old units destroyed). Creation of new units will mean the underlying holdings of the ETF need to be purchased, while destruction of units involves selling underlying holdings, so large flows can also impact the individual components held within ETFs. Tesla Shorts Getting Crushed This Week
... action, as the stock is moving awfully close to my target price of $306. Clearly, the momentum in the charts suggests that my price target was a little conservative. Here's what seems to be driving the stock. 13,450 in Model S deliveries. 11,550 in Model X deliveries. Auto Pilot 8.1 release. Capital Raise of $1.2 billion. Short interest remains elevated. Tencent ( OTCPK: TCEHY ) buys 5% of Tesla Inc. OK, so the delivery figures were pretty solid, and I know many of you will debate to the ends of the earth to refute the data. But, basically, 24,890 car deliveries exceeds the low-end of consensus analyst estimates. With a better than expected Model X mix we can expect upside on ASPs, hence I'm sticking with my forecast of 97.4 K car deliveries for FY'17, which may move higher assuming demand is healthy and supply constraints are worked out. Source: Twitter. Furthermore, short interest is starting to trend lower, and I would imagine that figure dropping even further, as we move into the heat of earnings season (which begins in April).
