... for his book. (Susan Watts/New York Daily News). But Bronx court records obtained by The News suggest Savage told his ex-wife about the abuse years before he published the book, which he began writing when a therapist suggested he write down his experiences and anxieties. Savage got a restraining order against his ex-wife’s boyfriend, Daniel Harris, after Harris threatened Savage during a Dec. 3, 2010, phone call. Harris was later charged with violating the restraining order after a confrontation with Savage on a Bronx subway platform. “I know about the Bambaataa thing,” the court records say Harris told Savage in July 2011. Savage believes Harris heard about the abuse allegations from his ex. Savage told police that Harris followed him onto a train and punched him “sharply in the side,” according to the complaint. The case was set to go to trial in 2012 when a judge agreed to let Harris plead guilty to a harassment violation, a charge lower than a misdemeanor, as long as Harris stayed out of trouble for a year. Two high-ranking Zulu Nation officials, meanwhile, recently called Savage several ...

Texans Enter Free Agency With Questions At Quarterback
Texans Enter Free Agency With Questions At Quarterback

... last season. Ron Chenoy/USA TODAY Sports. How they fared in 2016: Quarterback was the Texans’ biggest position of weakness this past season, and it was especially troubling given the money they invested in the position during the offseason. The Texans were hoping Osweiler was the answer to ending the quarterback carousel the franchise has endured and gave him a four-year, $72 million contract that had guaranteed money through the first two years of the deal. Instead, Osweiler threw more interceptions (16) than touchdowns (15) during the regular season and was benched for Savage in Week 15. Savage was named the starter after that game, but he had to leave Week 17’s loss with a concussion and was replaced by Osweiler, who started the Texans’ two-game playoff run. In 15 regular-season games, Osweiler completed 59 percent of his passes for 2,957 yards with 15 touchdowns and 16 interceptions and a quarterback rating of 72.2. Though Texans head coach Bill O'Brien publicly praised Osweiler during the season, he did not get a good review from the front ...

The White House has been producing so much news, tittle-tattle and black comedy recently you have to feel sorry for podcasts stuck with slow-moving beats like football. It’s particularly interesting to hear from the former White House staffers who make Pod Save America , which calls itself “a no-bullshit conversation about politics”. These speechwriters and advisers know no more than anybody else what’s actually going on but they’re good on what usually goes on, which is a useful benchmark against which to judge the present madness. ... a secret. Nobody wants to touch it," Campbell said. "We're taught to be quiet about it. So that's pretty much what the situation is.". He added: "A lot of the people from the community don't publicly speak out about Bam because there's a fear there. Bam, he's always been strong. He has an army with him. He had the most dangerous soldiers around him.". Authorities have said nothing about the Bambaataa scandal publicly. A New York Police Department source told me there is no active investigation because there have been no allegations that would fall within the statute of limitations. In New York, the statute of limitations on child sex abuse expires when the victim turns 23, a law Savage is seeking to have changed. In June, he was part of a contingent of sex abuse survivors who marched across the Brooklyn Bridge to press the New York State Assembly to change the law, but lawmakers tabled the proposal. Savage has pledged to continue the fight. Meanwhile, the scandal has sharply divided the hip-hop underground. ...

... players in the June expansion draft also adversely affects the trade pool. St. Louis Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk remains this season's top potential rental player. Given the trend of the last two years, he could be on the move by Monday. Despite the Blues' improvement in recent weeks, TSN's Darren Dreger believes  Shattenkirk will be dealt. Noting Troy Brouwer and David Backes departed last summer via free agency, Dreger feels the Blues want to avoid the same scenario with the 28-year-old blueliner. Dreger's colleague Bob Mc Kenzie reports the Blues were believed to have had tentative deals involving Shattenkirk with three different teams stretching back to last summer. However, all fell through because he was unwilling to sign a long-term contract extension. According to Mc Kenzie, the most recent occurred about six weeks ago, as Shattenkirk ...

... Roode), and Desmond Wolfe. He returned to the ring in March 2010 in a tag match; Hogan and Abyss defeated Flair and Styles. Just over a month later, Flair lost to Abyss in a match for possession of both Flair and Hogan's WWE Hall of Fame rings. Hogan gave Flair's Hall of Fame ring to Jay Lethal, who would then give it back to Flair. That wasn't good enough for Flair, and he and his protégés beat on Lethal. His protégés would have a name in June: Fourtune, a new take on the Four Horsemen, with AJ Styles, Kazarian, Robert Roode, James Storm, and Desmond Wolfe. In July, Flair lost to Lethal, but would win the rematch in August. Fourtune would feud with EV 2.0, a group of ex-ECW talent. The group would add Douglas Williams and Matt Morgan, but drop Desmond Wolfe. The group was defeated at Bound for Glory by EV 2.0 in a Lethal Lockdown match. On the Impact following Bound for Glory, Fortune would align with Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff's Immortal faction. The alliance was brief; after Flair tore his rotator cuff in a match in January, Fortune turned on Immortal. ...

... baseball when he was 4 years old and has been a varsity team starter for three years. Last year, Clayton Ellis stepped into a leadership role because he felt his sophomore season hadn’t been the best it could be. “So, my junior year I wanted to become a guy everyone can look up to and be a role model. Letting them know if they needed any help I’m always there,” said the third baseman. He wants to continue playing after he graduates and said Savage has helped him be ready for what college baseball will be like. Savage has been head coach at Tahquitz for the past 10 years and said from August through January the players are on the field five days a week and in the weight room three days a week. Savage said Clayton’s even temperament and his work ethic caught his attention. “In baseball, we talk about staying off an emotional roller coaster and not letting your highs get too high or your lows get too low. In the three years I have coached him … Clayton has maintained that composure,” Savage said. “Work ethic wise, he really cares about doing things the right way.”. Clayton, it seems, has been listening. “Baseball is my ...

The Man Of Bronze
The Man Of Bronze

... initial critique and box office take. Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze is also a movie that’s always looked a bit soft due to the use of opticals. That said, Warner’s newly-struck transfer from the original interpositive yields a beautiful presentation of the film. Grain is well-resolved, with strong levels of detail in non-optical shots, especially apparent in close-ups and costumes. Colors are nicely reproduced, with strong hues and excellent skin tones, while black levels are deep with nice shadow detailing. This is a stable transfer as well that appears relatively free of obvious negative damage. The English 2.0 DTS-HD audio track included here features dialogue that is cleanly-presented with adequate sound effects and score. Overdubbing doesn’t stand out too badly and there’s some good dynamic moments from time to time. It’s not a perfect track, but it is appropriate for the overall presentation. There are also ...
