... The first lady and the police commissioner announced plans to expand anti-human trafficking efforts. New York City is expanding its resources, including a hotline for victims or those who suspect a loved one is a victim, to combat sex trafficking, first lady Chirlane Mc Cray and NYPD Commissioner James P. O’Neill announced on Tuesday. “New Yorkers care for their neighbors. We do not stand by in silence when we see people are hurting,” Mc Cray said. “That is why we are introducing a new hotline today and increasing the number of specially trained officers to address trafficking.". In addition to the dedicated hotline overseen by NYPD, the Vice Unit has been restructured and 25 more detectives have been added. Some of the warning signs the NYPD says to watch for include. Travis D'arnaud, Joe Girardi On The Way Out
... same,” Steinbrenner told the New York Times. “We just have too many other things to focus on. He knows that. I’m sure we’ll be talking maybe toward the end of the year, but right now, there’s a lot more things to be worried about.”. Girardi was diplomatic regarding the issue when addressing reporters last week. “It really doesn’t impact me,” he said. “I’m going to do my job the same way and what I believe is the right way to do it. They don’t extend managers, as long as I can remember, during the course of a season. So I’ll go do my job and see and whatever happens. Let’s go play it out.”. Through nine seasons, Girardi has guided the Bombers to a 819-639 record with one World Series victory (2009). All systems ‘go’ for Gardner. Brett Gardner has been the subject of trade rumors for some time now, but he’s ready to begin the 2017 season as the longest-tenured Yankee on the roster. “On one hand, ...
The Best Performances Of All Time On 'the Voice
... Have Nothing.” The 31-year-old recording artist released her debut album in 2014 on Republic Records. Matt Mc Andrew — “Take Me to Church”. Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” was one of the biggest songs of 2014, so giving it new life as a cover song would be quite the challenge for any singer. However, Matt Mc Andrew added additional grit and power, hitting all the right notes — even those tricky falsettos in the chorus. Frenchie Davis — “When Love Takes Over”. It’s hard to believe the first season of “The Voice” was all the way back in 2011, but who could forget powerhouse vocalist Frenchie Davis? Her flawless rendition of the David Guetta/Kelly Rowland hit “When Love Takes Over” wowed judges and audiences alike. Matthew Schuler — “Hallelujah”. Jeff Buckley’s cover of “Hallelujah” may be the most famous of the Leonard Cohen masterpiece, but Matthew Schuler of Yardley, PA certainly gave it soul in Season 5. If you don’t get chills from this performance, you must not have one. Michelle Chamuel — “I Knew You Were Trouble”. In Season 4, indie artist Michelle ...
How Getting On The Slopes Made For The Best February Vacation Week Ever
... a number of extra activities planned during school vacation at ski areas throughout New England, and it’s clearly prime time in the mountains, no matter where you might be headed. In a previous life, these kind of conditions, paired with the promise of bluebird days, might have me playing the role of skiing nomad for a stretch of time, satisfied with sleeping wherever there was a roof, awaking with the only promise of having my legs ready to navigate the sun-splashed snow for days at a time. But with my third- and first-grade sons off for the week, the Presidents Day break has finally morphed into something different. For the past few years, this simply meant going through the grind. Yes, they have always gravitated toward lessons. Standing in the rental line wasn’t always the headache it could be. And my sons would ...

... and being vocal in my identity as a straight woman was huge,” Wiggins said. “I would say 98 percent of the women in the WNBA are gay women. It was a conformist type of place. There was a whole different set of rules they (the other players) could apply. “There was a lot of jealousy and competition, and we’re all fighting for crumbs,” Wiggins said. “The way I looked, the way I played – those things contributed to the tension. “People were deliberately trying to hurt me all of the time. I had never been called the B-word so many times in my life than I was in my rookie season. I’d never been thrown to the ground so much. The message was: ‘We want you to know we don’t like you.’ “.
