Live Updates, Highlights, And More From Spurs-warriors

... night. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET, and the Western Conference showdown will air on ESPN and can be live streamed on Watch ESPN. The Warriors slumped after the All-Star break when Kevin Durant went down with a terrifying MCL sprain, and they briefly surrendered the West’s No. 1 seed to the Spurs in mid-March. But they have since won their last eight games, including a seven-point win in a defensive exhibition against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. The Warriors drew the short end of the stick, though, and see the Spurs in the second game of a back-to-back. Science says they should rest their stars , though the NBA is staunchly against doing so on a national stage. What’s at stake: The Warriors are 2.5 games ahead of the Spurs for the top seed in the West. A Spurs win will cut that deficit to just 1.5 games. San Antonio has seven games against playoff opponents remaining on the schedule. Golden State has just four. The Spurs need this win to challenge for No. 1. A Warriors win all but ...

FOX official says he knew something was wrong with low Spurs TV ratings. 1 / 2. Back to Gallery. Steve Simpson, Fox Sports Southwest's senior vice president and general manager, knew something was wrong. As Simpson scanned the Spurs television ratings for games on his network earlier this year, the ratings didn't make sense. The team was playing well, contending for the best record in the league. But still the numbers didn't show it as they were far below the expected norm for the team, traditionally one of the strongest in the NBA in terms of ...

Fssw Explains Spurs' Rating Drop Due To Technical Issues
Fssw Explains Spurs' Rating Drop Due To Technical Issues

... reason explaining the ratings dip over the first half of the season. The San Antonio Business Journal reports that a faulty encoder was the culprit that explained why the team's ratings dropped despite the team's strong overall performance. So much for oversaturation of the NBA, Gregg Popovich's public comments about Donald Trump, the retirement of Tim Duncan and the growing factor of cord cutters for cable broadcasts as reasons for a ratings slump. Instead, bad equipment appears to be the likely reason why the Spurs' ratings appeared to drop like they did. After studies by the regional sports network, FSSW officials detected the technical error that explains why the numbers were low. The Spurs' ratings originally were reported at a 5.11 record last month. FSSW officials told the SABJ that ratings actually should have been slightly above 7.00, which would have placed the team second in the league, behind only Golden State's 8.54. San Antonio's ratings at a ...

... an outreach to Mandarin-speaking immigrants, and today holds services in Mandarin, English and Cantonese. Submitted photo. Chang and her husband, the late Y. K. Chang, founded MBCLA in 1963 as perhaps the first outreach to Mandarin-speaking Chinese immigrants in California, and were passionately committed to international missions. The Changs' legacy of missions spurs the church to give generously to Southern Baptist international missions through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering (LMCO). In 2016, gifts from the 1,800-attendance congregation topped $558,000. That is up from about $120,000 just six years earlier. "God is so good," Chan affirmed to Baptist Press. "Every year, people are looking forward to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering to be a part of it. (The) Lottie Moon Christmas Offering is always a big part of our church.". Chan witnessed Chang's commitment to evangelism on a mission trip to China when she was 84 years old, a decade before her death in 2007 at the age of 94. "Even in her old age," he said, "she literally traveled everywhere to share the Gospel, and not just by herself, but ...

Spurs Know There's Still Work To Do

... was non-existent in the quarter, and Manu Ginobili stated just that post-game and zeroed in on the the cause - the team lifted their foot off the gas pedal. “I think we did a little bit, but then we had a tough stretch where we couldn’t make a shot," said Manu. "We got a little disappointed, and then stopped defensively too. It’s a terrible combination. They made a great run, we put them back in the game. It was a combination of things, but still a little disappointing that after a great first half.”. Ginobili finished off with what everyone felt, “We just let them back in the game.”. It wasn’t the start of the second half Gregg Popovich and the Spurs were hoping to have after shooting 63 percent in the first quarter and 50 percent in the second. During the nightmarish of a third quarter, the Spurs cooled off, on both sides of the ball, as Ginobli explained. They shot 29 percent (8 of 27 Field Goals) in the quarter. Manu was not the only Spur player to have something to say about the third quarter ...

Silver's Involvement In Rest Issue Could Undermine Relationships
Silver's Involvement In Rest Issue Could Undermine Relationships

... as a result of multiple transgressions, but mainly because the Spurs failed to alert the league or media of the players’ lack of availability prior to the game. Now, San Antonio announces in advance which players it plans to rest. In Silver’s memo, he called the current issue of resting players “an extremely significant issue for our league,” adding that teams will face “significant penalties” for failure to follow league rules for reporting player injuries and illness. Silver indicated there would be a “full discussion of this issue” during the NBA’s board of governors meeting April 6. On the verge of closing out his 21 st season with San Antonio, Popovich is the longest-tenured coach with the same team in all of the four major professional sports, and said he has always had the blessing of ownership with regard to basketball decisions. Popovich indicated that the trust developed among himself, general manager R. C. Buford and Spurs ownership is what has helped the organization build the culture the rest of the league appears to be trying to replicate. “I think keeping owners informed ...

Spurs' League-best Bench Both A Blessing And A Curse
Spurs' League-best Bench Both A Blessing And A Curse

... with unconscious outside shooting. Everybody on the bench deserves the minutes they get, and all of them would probably see even more playing time on almost every other team. The variety of skill sets on the bench gives the Spurs plenty of lineup flexibility heading into the postseason. If San Antonio needs shooting, Mills, Ginobili and Gasol can provide it. Simmons, Bertans and Lee have athleticism. Anderson, Simmons and Ginobili have specific defensive abilities that make them useful. All of the reserves, even the younger ones, have gained confidence through experience in close games. That should only help them in the postseason when the games mean so much more. All of this depth also makes the Spurs one of the more injury-proof squads in the postseason. Unless it’s Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio could survive an injury to any player on its roster and not experience a significant dropoff. The Spurs bench’s ability to extend leads this season should also keep their starters fresh for the postseason. San Antonio doesn’t have a player in the top 30 for minutes per game this ...

After Scary Diagnosis, San Antonio Spurs See An Inspired Lamarcus Aldridge
After Scary Diagnosis, San Antonio Spurs See An Inspired Lamarcus Aldridge

... has hit his stride as of late. "It's not like he hurt his ankle or his thigh," Parker said. "When you talk about [the] heart, it's not the same thing. Maybe it put his life in perspective and he's playing with less pressure. Since he got back, he's been playing in a good rhythm.". Apprised of Parker's theory, Aldridge let forth a hearty laugh. "Wow," he said. "I don't want to take it there. I don't want to blow it up. I'm just playing confident. I'm back on the court and doing what I love to do, and I think it's just that time to turn it up and be more dominant. That's what I'm trying to do right now.". Rick Bowmer/Associated Press. Aldridge may not want to attribute his post-scare surge to a free-and-easy outlook on basketball (and life) that came with his clearance to return to the court. Cleveland Cavaliers forward Channing Frye, however, has no doubt Aldridge is playing with a renewed joy. Frye knows about heart scares. He missed the entire 2012-13 season because a routine preseason exam revealed an enlarged heart that threatened his career. Upon learning he could return to the court, Frye felt a profound feeling of joy ...
