The Good, The Bad, The Awesome And The Ugly Of Nba All-star Saturday Night 2017
... BREAK. A guy goes through a 3-point rack? COMMERCIAL BREAK. Over and over. The musical guests and segments are necessary, but in part because of the drawn-out, forced nature of the event, and partly because of the crowd, which is priced out and made up mostly of corporate sponsors, the crowd was dead. There was no life to the event, no energy. That’s part of a trend over the last few years. It needs to feel like the room is buzzing, and with players lazing through the skills competition, missing dunks, and lounging in chairs courtside, it feels like anything but that. It doesn’t have to be serious, this is the All-Star Weekend, after all. It just has to feel fun. And Saturday felt forced. THE AWESOME: This. All of this. on You Tube. This was a special moment. Seeing Reggie Miller taking off his jacket, seeing D. J. Khaled get out there, seeing all the legends, current and former, step up in that moment, that showed what the NBA is: a family. The NBA has not forgotten Craig Sager, and they never will. Moments like these show the best of what the NBA can be. THE REALLY, SUPER, UNBELIEVABLY UGLY: That Dunk Contest. First off, props to GR 3 or “Third,” ...

Reserves for the West include the aforementioned Westbrook, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, De Marcus Cousins , Marc Gasol , De Andre Jordan , and Gordon Hayward. Many feel that Westbrook will ...

... fun, having a great time. I'm happy with my team now and looking forward to moving forward.". Asked if he was excited to be teammates with Westbrook once again, Durant responded economically: "I'm excited to be here.". Durant said, "Stuff that you guys think are important, I don't think it's important at all. Now it's about all this other stuff.". In reflecting for the past several weeks on having four Warriors on the All-Star team, Green said it is probably something that won't happen often in the future. "It's pretty special - three of your teammates in the All-Star Game," Green said. "You make up four of the 12 guys, and that says a lot about our team, most importantly. To share the floor with those guys, especially in an environment like this, means a lot.". Even though this is Stevens' first All-Star Game and each squad is filled with incredible talent, the Boston coach believes his 5-foot-9 point guard, Isaiah Thomas , might have a breakout performance among the tall trees. "I would ...

... points per game since January 1, while shooting 48 percent from the field. He’s playing at his peak, and he’s healthy. That matters when we talk about the best competitor to snag the award. Then there’s opportunity. The man in charge of those minutes Sunday is Thomas’ own coach, Brad Stevens, and Thomas admitted he would be lobbying Stevens the way he does in-game to get more minutes. Stevens admitted he’ll have Thomas breathing down his neck, and if Thomas gets off to a hot start when he comes in, it’s possible that he’ll generate the kind of minutes necessary. That will depend on how much Kyrie Irving and De Mar De Rozan, the starters, want to play. But Thomas stands with a real opportunity to go for it. He heats up faster than anyone. That’s key because he’ll have to get out to a hot start for the others to be OK with giving him a run at it. There’s the motivation.
