Seven Faces Of Cher
Seven Faces Of Cher

... whatever the hell Yeezy is up to now, Cher was clocking the personal branding dollars. Cher in Mask. Thespian Cher. If your only credits are two flop ’60 s movies, stepping onto a Broadway stage to be directed by Robert Altman alongside veteran actresses might seem crazy. But that’s how Cher revived her acting career in 1982 with Come Back to the 5 and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. It was a decidedly unglamorous role as a truck-stop waitress (which she reprised in the film adaptation of the play that same year), and Cher continued to eschew glitz for her next two film roles: Meryl Streep’s blue-collar lesbian roommate in Silkwood and the biker-mama mother of a disfigured boy in Mask. She won the best actress Oscar in 1987 for playing a Brooklyn widow in Moonstruck, and showed up to claim her prize dressed in what was basically a handful of black sequins. Cher still gonna Cher. Activist Cher. Recently, Cher has been ...

Classic Cher’ Offers No Surprises In Return To Costume Vault
Classic Cher’ Offers No Surprises In Return To Costume Vault

... They call this one “Classic Cher” because why? “Hauled Out of the Storage Warehouse” isn’t quite punchy enough for a billboard. It would be fitting, though, for anyone who saw the pop icon’s Caesars Palace show from 2008 to 2011 and really missed that motorized gondola. But “Classic Cher” is genuinely a good name for the 70-year-old’s victory lap at the new Park Theater. It means the show is everything you expect, and nothing new that you shouldn’t. One song sums it up: the power ballad “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” from the “Burlesque” movie. You can guess from the title it could be a big moment, that point where other legends would lean into an anthem that’s thematic and resonant and knock it out of the park. But here, you watch Cher’s video of that song on the giant rear screen. Why? Because she’s busy changing costumes, getting ready for the next production number. And that’s the real classic Cher: a medley of other “Burlesque” songs done as a “Cabaret” knockoff, with dancers in derbies, ...

Anthony Quinn and Sammy Davis Jr. look very celebratory indeed, celebrating the opening of a Boston revival of the musical version of “Zorba the Greek,” in 1985. What a pair: Tony! Sammy! Show-biz Babylon hits Hub? Something like that. The list of names in the show keeps on going. Part of the pleasure is how many realms Farrington gives us entrĂ©e to. Art: Richard Avedon, Andy Warhol. Comedy: Dan Aykroyd, Richard Pryor, Garry Shandling, Jay Leno (at Nick’s Comedy Stop, in 1984, offering a wink and a thumbs up). The movies: Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner, Christopher Reeve, Karen Allen. Classical music: Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa with Anne-Sophie Mutter. Literature: a trio of Andre Dubus, Stephen King, and John Irving; Norman Mailer (looking then, in 1984, a lot like John Mc Enroe looks now). Farrington even gives us two realms for the price of one. Dennis Hopper actor was also Dennis Hopper photographer. At the 1984 opening at the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University of his work, he almost looks respectable ...

... concert, but an over-the-top fashion show. She opens the production singing “Woman’s World” in a glittery disco-goes-Egyptian gown, complete with a sky-high afro wig. (She’s backed up, naturally, by a troop of gladiator dancers.) Cher has 11 full costume changes through the concert, and the ensembles echo gowns Cher has previously worn on stage (after all, this is the Classic Cher show). Of course, a version of the famed leather-and-little-else outfit seen in her “If I Could Turn Back Time” music video brought down the house, while her glitzy “Half-Breed” feathered headdress was also a stunner. For the show’s finale of “Believe,” Cher donned a dazzling off-white bejeweled dress that weighs a whopping 75 lbs. Hits, Hits and Nothing But the Hits. If you see Cher during her Classic Cher run, you’ll be treated to a nothing-but-the-hits revue – from top 10-charting Billboard Hot 100 singles like “I Got You Babe” and “Believe” to “If I Could Turn Back Time” and ...

What’s more, “years of loans to family and friends have gone unpaid, and lavish living expenses and the astronomical cost of experimental medical treatments have taken a severe toll on her finances,” says the source. Last June, Cher sued Sail Venture Partners, accusing the financial firm of defrauding her out of $800,000 after she invested more than $1 million in what she called “risky and unsound” investments. Another source spills, “Despite her fragile physical state, Cher is going back on the road in a last-ditch attempt to beef up her bottom line! ”. ... at Monte Carlo and was ordered to bed rest by her doctor after flu felled members of the superstar singer and actress’s band and crew and her. They are anxious to return, and a doctor has given them a tentative go-ahead to be back onstage Wednesday. UP ON THE ROOF. Even though we showed the You Tube videos of Steve Wynn atop his hotels for two TV commercials I wrote about in Sunday’s Brett Ratner interview, the Hollywood director and producer and I still had people who refused to believe that the hotel mogul balanced himself precariously on the roof. Brett emailed me a new You Tube video to prove once and for all that Steve really did go up to the Wynn and Encore skylines for the dangerous, high-flying helicopter shots just feet from his face. Here is the making of the Encore commercial. Brett’s Hilhaven Lodge whiskey is currently available in Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Kentucky, where it is bottled, but not Aspen yet, as I wrote. Whoops! But it’s on its way soon. He says that expansion will take it to New York ...

... the two productions are on display in the showgirl collection at the UNLV Library Digital Collection. I asked Bob, who also has designed gowns for Diana Ross, who also opens on the Strip on Wednesday, about Las Vegas. He told me, “It’s a very comfortable fit for me. I understand Las Vegas. I dressed Mitzi Gaynor and Ann-Margret. But you design for your star. If Cher came out in a conservative suit or evening gown and sang 20 songs, people would be disappointed. “She genuinely likes the outrageous and flamboyant, and you’re going to enjoy that when she steps onstage Wednesday. “I love what I do, which is why I haven’t retired. My first TV series was with Judy Garland in 1963, so it’s been 50-plus years. I’m still on QVC with my designs, and I’ll be working with Carol Burnett again on her new sitcom. “I have two New York stage projects next year, too. To me, it’s not work. I enjoy every moment of it. How Talking To Cher Helped Gregory Arlt’s Makeup Career
How Talking To Cher Helped Gregory Arlt’s Makeup Career

... makeup with the cat eye and the red lip, I loved it. That was the very first day ever in my job, my first celebrity ever. The first one who was loyal was Fran Drescher, who was in The Nanny. She was the first person I worked with, she kept calling me to do her makeup. She was the first who was loyal to me and soon after, Cher came along. A post shared by ่GR€GORY ARLT (@gregoryarlt) on. Feb 10, 2017 at 6:45 pm PST. What was the call from Cher like. In 1999, she was an executive producer of a makeover show that I was called to be a beauty consultant for. This is the craziest story: I got the call [from the producers] on a Monday. On Wednesday, I had a sit-down interview. The next day, I had to go to the MAC store to get some makeup and Cher was in the store shopping. All by herself, looking at lipstick. I’m not working, I was super casual in a t-shirt in jeans, [debating] whether I should talk to her. God and the universe said go talk to her. I walked up to her, [I introduced myself] and said I just met with your producers for Style Challenge. We started talking for 10 to 15 minutes. I told her how I ...
