Warriors’ Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry Named All-star Starters
... alongside Curry, Golden State snapped a nearly half-century streak without two starters in the same All-Star Game (Rick Barry and Nate Thurmond in 1967). Thompson and forward Draymond Green are expected to be named to the West squad when coaches’ votes for reserves are announced next Thursday. Despite a strong push from his native country of Georgia, the Warriors’ Zaza Pachulia is unlikely to make his first career All-Star appearance next month. He was second among West frontcourt players in the second fan returns with 823,376 votes, but the longtime role player couldn’t withstand the inevitable dip when player and media ballots were recorded. After Pachulia came within 15,000 votes of being an All-Star starter last season, the NBA changed its voting system. Unlike past years, when starters were determined solely by ...

... the 11-0 run to start the game, and after the Warriors answered with their only basket of the quarter, the Lakers would fashion an 18-3 first quarter lead with a 7-0 run. The second quarter of play saw Cairnduff hit trifectas on consecutive possessions in between Wayne State buckets to extend the lead to a first half high of 17. Wayne State would claw back in with a layup and two triples to cut the lead down to eight, 24-15, with 4:47 left to play in the quarter, but the Lakers closed out the half on an 8-2 run to lead 32-17 at the break. The Warriors had been held to just 24 percent from the field at the half, and had twice as many turnovers (12) as made baskets (6). Opening the third quarter on a 7-2 run, the Lakers extended the lead out to 20, 39-19, with 8:39 left to play in the third. After the Warriors added three quick points, the Lakers fired back with two straight baskets from Tucker and later, a trifecta from Dawson. That brief lead ...

... Schröder complained to reporters after the game that Thomas had mocked the bleach-blonde stripe in his hair during the game, asking who had done his dye job. The guard’s distinctive coif took root in his native Germany, where his mother ran a hair salon, and Schröder took offense. After the game, Thomas said he intended it as a compliment and that he’d called Schröder to apologize. Charles Krupa/Getty Images. Item 2: Carmelo Anthony, Phil Jackson Media Beef. Version A: Phil Jackson’s known media mouthpiece Charley Rosen wrote a column for Fan Rag Sports that passively bashed Anthony and suggested his time was close to over in New York. Anthony, who holds a no-trade clause, asked to meet with Jackson about it and told the media afterward that he will remain a Knick and that he loves New York, joking about the famous video of himself at a bodega in a bathrobe. “You think I’d ever give that up? You guys are always saying all kinds of stuff, man. I don’t even know who Charley Rosen is.”. The Crossover's 2017 NBA All-Star Starters. Version B: ...

Chris Paul Hurt, The Bad Boy Warriors And Some Bummer Draft News For The Bulls
... enforcer role in what could be a much-anticipated third straight Finals matchup between the Warriors and Cavs. After watching tape of Wednesday night's incident, Westbrook had this to say about the team's next meeting Feb. 11 in Oklahoma City: "I'm going to get his ass back. Straight up.". Bummer draft news for Bulls. Sorry, Bulls fans. That future first-round pick Sacramento owes the Bulls (top-10 protected) from the Luol Deng trade years ago is almost certainly going to become a second-round pick this June. The Kings just went 1-6 on their longest homestand of the season, and now head out on the road for eight straight games. Even worse, they just lost their second best player, Rudy Gay, to a season-ending Achilles injury. Under the terms of the Deng trade, if the first-round pick owed to the Bulls isn't conveyed by this year's draft, it converts to a second-round ...
Kevin Durant’s Specialness, Stephen Curry’s Defense, Boredom
... can’t get lazy with it. … We have to still be aggressive defensively when we’re switching so we can put pressure on the ball, take them out of their normal options that they want to explore. Rotations have to be crisp. I think that’s the biggest part that we’ve gotten better with, being on a string. One guy would either trap or case to the point, you’ve got to have another guy sprinting to the wing, and you’re rotating to fill it in behind. It takes effort, it takes energy and you’ve got to be able to see the play happen. I think we’ve done a pretty good job at that.”. Bob Myers may have to step in. The Warriors’ roster is really lopsided. They have unmatched talent at the top but lots of dead weight at the end. Can they win a title like that? Yes. Does this bench make them more vulnerable to being upset? Yes. The centers: Zaza Pachulia, David West, Ja Vale Mc Gee and rookie Damian Jones. Throw in power forwards who can’t produce at power forward so they have to play center: Anderson Varejao, Kevin Looney, James Michael Mc Adoo. That’s seven players, six of the nine reserves, holding down one position to spare ...

Warriors’ Planned Move To S.f. Another Slap In The Face To Oakland
... appreciation for this Chase Center project. I think how Lacob went about this, privately financing his arena and taking all the burden on himself, is how this should be done. It is a great example of modern ownership, assuming all of the risk since he will reap all of the rewards when the franchise value bubbles. On top of that, I will concede the Warriors haven’t been as heartless about this transition as they could have been. As an organization, they have at least been mindful of the anger their move is causing. There are people inside the Warriors organization who feel what Oaklanders feel, even some who disagree with the move. Reading this on your i Phone or i Pad? Rockets’ Mad 3-point Attack A Legitimate Threat To Warriors

D’Antoni is doing it again in Houston, Kerr contended. “He’s even taken it to another degree,” he said. “I don’t think I could’ve ever imagined a team taking 60 3 s in a game.”. Actually, it was 61, on Dec. 16 against the New Orleans Pelicans. It set the NBA record for 3-point attempts, but for the Rockets, it was really no big deal. They have taken 50 or more 3-point shots in a game five times, 40 or more 22 times, and 40 is their average. The fewest 3-point shots they have taken in a game this year is 29. Just as startling, they have only been limited to single-digit makes three times. In that game against the Pelicans when they shot 61, the Rockets made ...
