Warriors Hold Fancied Algeria
Warriors Hold Fancied Algeria

... predictions. ZIMBABWE'S battled to a 2-2 draw against a star-studded Algeria Sunday in their first group game at the Africa Cup of Nations finals underway in Gabon. Speaking after the game coach Kalisto Pasuwa said: Getting a point against Algeria will motivate the players to do better in the next match. “We sat too deep though we were catching them on the break. At this level, you have to be clinical in front of goal to win matches. “It was only nine minutes to the end and they equalized. Our objective is to reach the second round and we will work towards that.”. Pasuwa’s opposite number Georges Leekens remarked: “This is just the first match and first matches are always difficult in any major competition. “We had a bad first half and it affected our game plan. We resumed stronger in the second half and managed to equalize. Zimbabwe was always going to be difficult. There are no small teams here. “We made mistakes in the first half that allowed Zimbabwe to play. The penalty was also a huge mistake. We have one point and we will hope to have the three points in the next matches.”. Nyasha Mushekwi scored Zimbabwe's second. The Warriors forced ...

Golden State's Defense Leads Warriors Past Spirited Heat
Golden State's Defense Leads Warriors Past Spirited Heat

... Curry was less efficient than Durant but finished with 24 points on 8-of-21 shooting. He shot 4 for 11 from deep and was 4 for 5 from the free-throw line. Dunk of the game: Curry's shooting might have been off due to James Johnson dunking on him at the end of the first quarter. Missing Klay: Even though the Warriors won, this game showcased how important Thompson is to Golden State. The Warriors started rookie Patrick Mc Caw and he took only three shots and finished with three points, nowhere near Thompson's average of 21.3 points. Golden State did play Ian Clark more than Mc Caw and although he played well (10 points on 4-of-9 shooting), again, he's no Klay Thompson. The Warriors also missed Thompson on the defensive end. Without Thompson's strong perimeter defense, Goran Dragic (17 points) and Tyler Johnson (18 ...

Warriors’ Evolution Will Be A Gripping Drama
Warriors’ Evolution Will Be A Gripping Drama

... coach, I offer this warning: Beware the myth of personality transformation. In his first head coaching gig, some say Mc Daniels was an unpleasant guy to work with — i.e., a jerk. Chip Kelly apparently made himself more people-friendly between his Eagles and 49 ers jobs, and Tom Coughlin softened some of his rougher edges through introspection. But a complete personality makeover? Not likely. I bet Mc Daniels can be charming in a job interview, but so was Jim Harbaugh. Keller Chryst blows out a knee in Stanford’s bowl game, and that will ripple through college football like a tsunami. Christian Mc Caffrey won’t be the last college star to skip a meaningless bowl game to avoid ruining his zillion-dollar NFL future. Now that Trent Baalke is not a GM, who’s going to draft kids with shattered knees. In a rush job, the Cubs will visit the White House before President Obama vacates it. Be interesting to see how these sports visits shake out under Donald Trump. Will Muslim athletes be required to undergo extra security screening? Will a smiling Steve Kerr and Stan Van Gundy lead their guys through the big iron gates. Cal athletic ...

Warriors Collapse In Epic Fashion, Durant Struggles In Loss To Grizzlies

... degree. HT: Warriors All-82. 6. Whither the Death Star? The Warriors' "Death Star" lineup of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green was a minus-4 in the fourth quarter Friday, and now has a negative net rating in the fourth quarter this season, minus-1.5. This lineup was always monstrous last season with Harrison Barnes, with a net-69 per 100 possessions in the fourth. Now it's being outscored by their opponents in the 4 th. 7. These aren't your Momma's Grizzlies. Yes, ZBo was cooking, but it's plays like these that you didn't see from Memphis in the past. Both David Fizdale's early-clock offense and the addition of players like Troy Daniels give them a different dimension and that enabled this comeback. If Daniels doesn't hit 4-of-7 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and overtime. 8. The Old (Real?) Steph Curry returned. Curry was electric for three quarters. Dispy-doo layups, step-back ...

... at this. Is that good? That seems good. 3. The Andre Drummond situation continues to worry. The Pistons are better when Drummond is on the bench. There's no getting around that as the numbers plainly show. For example, the Pistons are outscored by 7.6 points per 100 possessions with Drummond and Tobias Harris on the floor together. Take Drummond off, and keep Harris on, and the Pistons outscore their opponent by 4.4 points per 100 possessions. Against the Warriors, the Pistons' rebounding numbers went up with Drummond on the bench, and they gave up 10.2 points less per 100 possessions. This is getting to be a little bit of an elephant in the room for the Pistons. If Drummond can't make them better as a unit, they're not only going to struggle, but their long-term direction is in question. Ja Vale Mc Gee had more offensive rebounds (3) than Drummond (2). 4. The 3-ball remains vital. The Pistons shot 6-of-28 from deep vs. the Warriors. Golden State ...

Warriors Suffer Musona Blow
Warriors Suffer Musona Blow

... Players have different healing time, hence, it is difficult to be specific, as to when he will be fit to return to play.”. The Senegal match will be a crucial one for the Warriors, who started off with a 2-all draw against Algeria, following first-half goals from Kuda Mahachi and Nyasha Mushekwi, while Leicester forward, Riyad Mahrez scored in either half for the Desert Foxes. Senegal, on the other hand, emerged 2-0 winners against Tunisia, thrusting them to the top of Group B. Zimbabwe will be looking to keep their Afcon dream alive, with a positive result against Senegal and Musona’s absence will come as a blow to Pasuwa’s men. Before he had discovered the extent of the injury on Sunday, Pasuwa told News Day Sport that he was worried about losing the player for the tournament. It is possible that Musona could fail to recover in time for the Tunisia match, which will also be crucial in shaping the Warriors’ destiny in this tournament. While Pasuwa will be missing one of the Warriors’ ...

... afternoon nap for. Bradley Beal Changes Everything For The Wizards. Pelicans vs. Pacers, 4 p.m. The Solomon Hill revenge game! Honestly, this is not the most appealing contest, and I wouldn’t suggest you watch Pels-Pacers over 76 ers-Bucks. But keep an eye out just in case Paul George and/or Anthony Davis go off. Magic vs. Nuggets, 5 p.m. The Magic have roughly nine centers or power forwards on their roster, none of whom are as talented as Nikola Jokic. Elfrid Payton has been playing better for Orlando lately, with his outside shooting showing signs of growth. Other than that, I’m not really sure the NBA realizes it scheduled these two teams on what is supposed to be a marquee day for the league. Hornets vs. Celtics, 7:30 p.m. Teams with two All-Star caliber guards who are going in opposite ...

Warriors Annihilate Cleveland For A Full 48 Minutes

... of course. You can reasonably argue James flopped a little, which caused Green to mock him moments later. That will only help the best rivalry in sports. This game doesn’t change our opinion of either team. They’re both on pace to win their conference and it’s hard to see them not meeting in the Finals yet again for a third straight season. The Warriors were already favorites, given Kevin Durant’s offseason addition, but nobody’s counting the Cavaliers out — and certainly not because of this game. The Warriors and the Cavaliers played on Martin Luther King Jr. Day last season, and Golden State waxed them then as well. This game was a beatdown, but we can’t wait for the next one. The Warriors, weirdly enough, needed this. We know Golden State has only lost twice since Dec. 10. We know they have the NBA’s best record and are generally dominating anyone who comes their way with 35-6 record — not a record-setting pace, but a 70-win one nevertheless. And yet, as our esteemed colleague Paul Flannery pointed out, the only outcome in this game that would have really been worrisome is if the Warriors ...

Warriors, A's & Raiders Present $750,000 Check To Oakland Fire Relief Efforts

... General Manager Reggie Mc Kenzie, Golden State Warriors President & COO Rick Welts, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, and American Red Cross Regional Chief Executive Officer Trevor Riggen. OAKLAND, Calif. – Representatives from the Golden State Warriors, Oakland Athletics and Oakland Raiders presented a check this evening for $750,000 to representatives from the American Red Cross and the City of Oakland, who accepted on behalf of the victims and their families, to help assist with relief efforts from the devastating Ghost Ship warehouse fire that claimed 36 lives in Oakland on December 2, 2016.  One hundred percent of the donated funds are going to those directly impacted by the fire.  The presentation was made this evening on-court at the Warriors game against the Detroit Pistons at Oracle Arena. In the immediate aftermath of the fire, a fund was established by the Oakland A’s on the crowdfunding website You __link__ to raise money for the victims of the fire, with the A’s pledging to match up to $50,000 of public donations. Subsequently, the Raiders and Warriors made ...
