For Honor is due to be released on 14 February (Valentines day) for PC, PS 4 and Xbox One. For Honor: No split screen mode. It looks like Ubisoft’s upcoming melee brawler, For Honor, will be released without a split-screen mode. "The For Honor team made the difficult decision to cut split-screen co-op in order to deliver the best experience at launch,” Ubisoft told  Eurogamer. "It's a feature that we liked and wished to deliver, but we found we can't do it without impacting the quality of other elements that are more crucial to the For Honor experience. For Honor fans looking to play with friends will still have the option to play online co-op in the campaign and in all multiplayer modes.". The decision follows a closed alpha test of the game, and comments from producer ...

For Honor' Single-player Hands-on
For Honor' Single-player Hands-on

... has given us our first chance at trying out a single-player mission in For Honor. Like a traditional brawler game, I found myself button mashing to get the most devastating combos possible, but also noticed there was more required than fast button presses to get the most out of the combat system. The mission I played saw me taking on the role of a medieval knight, defending a castle from an invading force. When fighting, I could be in one of three different stances, ready to defend against incoming attacks. If an enemy attacks you from the same stance, you’ll defend the attack successfully. If you happen to be in one of the other two stances, get ready for a sword slash across your face. Along with the different stances, there are two different attack types: heavy and light. Like all other games, light attacks are quicker and do less damage, while heavier attacks hit more, but are slower to perform. There are a few other moves included, like the ability to grab enemies, but they weren’t really explored in the mission’s tutorial – I only know about them because I pressed the wrong buttons. Players also can ...

A setup that meets these requirements and has at least 4 GB of system RAM should be able to run For Honor at 30 frames per second at 720 p. In order to achieve 60 frames-per-second at 1080 p, Ubisoft recommends the equivalent of an Intel Core i 5-2500 K or AMD FX-6350 processor. For Honor’s Warriors Were Real People In Ye Olden Days, And They’re Brutal

... little less grim. Just a little, though. I can understand why the design team shied away from using the more accurate term to describe these misfits, so let me spell it out for you: Orochi are ninjas. Well, Orochi is actually a name for a devious eight-headed serpent (Yamata no Orochi, 八岐の大蛇) found in Japanese myth. The nod to this famous reptile doesn’t appear to go any further. However, the description of the Orochi looks to be heavily inspired by ninjas. Roaming the “battlefield like ghosts” and using “the arts of stealth and deception”, they’re undoubtedly most similar to pop culture’s well known masters of sneakiness. Ninjas are a sect of the samurai family too, trained to fill a niche for covert tasks and espionage. Most. agree that the katana was the ninja’s weapon of choice, along with shuriken and light bamboo bows - though we won’t be seeing the latter in For Honor. are the closest thing to real knights. Described as “powerful, noble warriors” who are “proud, loyal, and brilliant diplomats, the Wardens are expect to embody the highest values of Knighthood”. Those highest values would be chivalry, a code of behaviour put forward ...

What To Know Before The Beta
What To Know Before The Beta

... If you become dazed and don’t know which zone to block, keep your eye on the screen, your opponent’s attacking zone will glow red, so simply match his strike and you’ll successfully block it. If that doesn’t work, simply dodge or back up out of range. For Honor’s beta will go live on 26 January, and run for three days. It’s also important to keep your eye on your stamina bar too. Once yours is completely drained, you’ll be defenceless — the same goes for your opponent. Getting familiar with your move sets is also really important. Each faction and their classes have different move sets and stats. No class is the same. Some classes use massive area of effect moves, while others offer major melee buffs and reduced range. Some of the more effective combat techniques are often the simplest. Running slashes and shoulder bashes open up ...
