Now that the GT 350 is available for sale, this leaves the Shelby GT 500 as the next generation Mustang for Ford to reveal. There are speculations  that the next Mustang will not be a complete redesign. It will most likely be just an updated version of the Shelby GT 350 with Ford focusing on performance tweaks and refinements. Enthusiasts won't see a completely redesigned Mustang for years. The Shelby GT 350 and GT 350 R are currently the only Mustangs equipped with Ford's magnetorheological dampers. One should expect to see magnetorheological dampers on the GT 500, too, to compete with the cheap Camaro SS which is equipped with Chevy's Magne Ride suspension. Analysts say that the GT 500 will most likely have a dual-mode sports exhaust which the Camaro SS also has. Because Ford wants to keep weight low in the hybrid Mustang, it is not expected to implement a battery large enough to support a full-hybrid configuration. Instead, the first-ever hybridized Mustang might be a mild-hybrid. The definition describes a vehicle that gets electric assistance, but cannot drive on electric power alone. The only thing that Ford needs to decide about the hybrid Mustang configuration is whether they will employ a temporary AWD system by fitting the electric motors on the front axle, or if it will have an RWD hybrid. In the case of the former, the Mustang could have a front-wheel-drive mode if it were to operate on electric power alone, which will not be possible for the first Mustang hybrid.
